Dance styles

SHOW DANCE

In the broadest sense is based either on any Jazz/Lyrical, Ballet and/or Modern and Contemporary dance technique. Other dance disciplines can also be incorporated but cannot dominate. Ballroom, Latin or Rock ’n’ Roll are excluded and cannot be performed. Show Dance allows the use of lifts (except for Children), acrobatics, props, lip-sync and other theatrical effects. An Show Dance number always has to have a guideline, story or visible concept to entertain the audience.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance brings new information about body and how the body works,offers new quality of movement, new shapes of body in area, brings new composition process and space for experiment. In this category dance compositions created by using modern and contemporary dance techniques are presented. Other dance techniques are not recommended. The composition must have an idea or a theme. Various lifts (except children) and acrobatic stunts (except children) are permitted. Decorations are not recommended. The music is unlimited. When evaluating, points will be given for the technique, musicality, choreography, originality, synchro and originality. The costumes must be connected with the theme and age of the performers.

CHARACTER/FOLK DANCE

These disciplines must be Traditional Dances of any Nationality, passed down from generation to generation, and may include: Polonaise, Polynesian, American Indian, Highland Fling, Flamenco, Japanese Candle Dance, Hindu, Tarantella, African, etc. Traditional /authentic costuming and music is expected, and will be used in the total evaluation.

STREET DANCE SHOW

In this category dance compositions created by using Hip Hop, Locking, Popping, House, Bboying, Krump, Waacking and Vogue dance styles. Classical, contemporary, salsa, jazz and disco dance styles can be used, but they should not dominate in the performance. The composition must have a theme or an idea. Various lifts (except children), acrobatic stunts (except children), decorations and so on can be used in this choreographical composition. Hip Hop, New Jack Swing, R‘n‘B, G-Funk, Reggaeton, Pop, Breakbeat, Funk, Electro, Disco, House, Dub Step, Glitch Hop, Techno music can be used. When evaluating, points will be given for the variety of elements, technique, costumes, make-up, hair styling, musicality, synchro and originality.

POP DANCE

In this category dance composition can be without a theme or an idea. Various lifts (except children), acrobatic stunts (except children), decorations and so on can be used in this choreographical composition. POP, New Jack Swing, R‘n‘B, G-Funk, Reggaeton, Funk, Electro, Disco, House, Dub Step, Glitch Hop, Techno music can be used. When evaluating, points will be given for the variety of elements, technique, costumes, make-up, hair styling, musicality, synchro and originality.

HIP HOP

Dance composition created by using Hip Hop dance styles are performed. Locking, Popping, House, Krump, Waacking, Vogue and Bboying styles are allowed to be used, but they cannot dominate in the performance. Various acrobatic stunts are allowed. Raises and the use of decorations is forbidden. Hip Hop, New Jack Swing, Glitch Hop, R‘n‘B, G-Funk, Reggaeton music can be used. When evaluating, points will be given for the variety of elements, technique, improvisation, musicality, synchro and originality.
